Young male Asani (18 months) was mixed with female Malindi (4 years) after being separated from his dam. Both individuals have a calm temperament and are relaxed with keepers. During the weaning process Asani would be locked outside, spending most of his time on the opposite side of the fence to Malindi. Asani was very subdued after being separated from his dam and as Malindi was not being bred at that point due to a lack of bulls, the two were mixed for company.
The two individuals were allowed to see each other through bars, then the door was opened. There was no agression at all, and within a couple of hours the two were lying next to each other. The following video shows the series of events.
